The Vision We are looking at a vast multitude of God’s servant leaders, competent in their understanding of His Word and moved by compassion for the world around them; they are passionately taking up the challenge to build God’s church in their local communities. These devoted followers of the Lord are equipping subsequent generations of laborers to continue God’s work in their countries.
The Mission Our commitment is to the leadership development of these pastors and church leaders. They are committed to serving the Lord in countries that struggle with many challenges. We are especially focused on Africa. In the short term our objective is to provide training that increases the effectiveness of these leaders in their chosen ministries. In the long term our goal is to vitalize and strengthen the body of Christ for God’s eternal glory.
The Strategy This teaching ministry offers a five-stage program of courses given in on-site, week-long meetings. Major areas of concentration include basic doctrines of theology, bible exposition, and leadership skills. At each conference teams of competent instructors present three or four courses; each conference builds upon the course materials provided in earlier stages of the curriculum. Our aim is not to duplicate the curriculum of a bible college or seminary. Instead we provide a non-formal alternative that emphasizes the most important subject areas needed by these leaders in their living and working environments.
The Challenge We have seen the legions of pastors whom God has called to shepherd His flock. We have witnessed the deep motivation of these workers of the Lord, some of whom walked several days to come to a conference or who sat on hard benches for whole days to receive our teachings. They face great challenges on a daily basis---poverty, disease, civil war, and hunger. Despite these obstacles they take up their cross each day and follow the Lord with sacrificial love.
Some Final Words These people are not players in some insignificant tragedy in some remote part of the world that may be of little concern to us; they are real people. They are also our brothers and sisters in Christ and they are going to be in heaven with us. They press on in faith regardless of their struggles and discouragement. Leadership Vistas is committed to giving them all the help that we can.
